Jan Tschichold was a shit-stirrer of the highest order. Spending youth ardently espousing ultra-modernist design principles, he later began studying the older typographical arts in more depth, culminating in his work for Penguin Books, the Sabon typeface (the best Garamond ever, many say), and his book about books, The Form of The Book.
